Trigger

Trigger Primitives Generator (TPG)
The TPG is the first step in the Calorimeter Trigger Chain, taking information directly from the detector and putting it in the form that will be dealt with by the rest of the Calorimeter chain. It appears that the TPG is also the piece which decides the initial timing of the main event.

  • For ECAL:
    • Signal comes from 25 crystals (25 x 16 bits)
    • Sent to five amplifiers, which build the strip signals (18 bits each)
    • Sent to five amplitude filters, which then build the energy signal (18 bits passed on)
    • Sent to five peak finders, which deconvolute the smeared signal (12 bits)
    • One Trigger cell processor sets both the total transverse energy, and the Fine Grained Veto (9 bits)
